COUNTDOWN TO NATIONAL SEA CADET BAND COMPETITION!

In just two days’ time, 150 Sea Cadets will be taking over the Moat at the Tower of London for the National Sea Cadet Band Competition!!

On Saturday 22 August, an expected 25,000 visitors will hear 10 Sea Cadet bands, soloist drummers and buglers perform on the Moat by the Tower Hill entrance.

Bugler and drummer soloists will start the day on the green next to the Byward Tower with a steadily growing crowd. By midday 10 bands will take to the moat for the marching band competition. Cadets competed in regional heats all year to make it to the nationals for a chance to take home the winning trophy.

On Tuesday 4 August, Second Sea Lord announced that four Sea Cadet volunteers have been awarded a Second Sea Lord Commendation for their contribution to the charity.

Congratulations to Commander Hugh Barras RNR, Clyde North District Officer for Northern Area, Commander Keith Bingham RNR, Senior Staff Officer for Eastern Area, Lieutenant Commander Debra Glanville RNR, South Yorkshire District Officer for Eastern Area and Lieutenant Commander Jon Vanns RNR, Staff Officer (Ceremonial).

TS ROYALIST SETS SAIL ON FIRST EVER VOYAGE!

On Saturday 1 August, the new Sea Cadet flagship set sail with 24 cadets on her first ever voyage. This week marks a milestone for a ship whose story started five years ago, having been designed, built, launched and commissioned, TS Royalist is now ready to take 900 cadets a year on life-changing offshore adventures.

A huge thanks to everyone who made this happen, and wishing cadets on this this week fair winds and following seas!

BROMLEY SEA CADET UNIT RECEIVES BOOST IN FUNDING

Bromley Sea Cadet Unit has received £1,000 donation from the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, and has donated bursaries to three cadets that have achieved Cadet of the Year.On Thursday 23 July Leader of Bromley Borough Council, Councillor Stephen Carr and Captain Sea Cadets, Captain Phil Russell RN visited the unit for their award evening and gave out three Cadet of the Year award certificates and trophies.

Commanding Officer, Lt (SCC) Bill Collier RMR, says: “We are delighted for the very generous donations from the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners. This generous donation will open up opportunities for young people to experience an offshore voyage they will never forget or join a course to gain a nationally accredited qualification to give them a great a head start in life.”
