September 2015 – Royal Marines Association...

Wednesday 30th September saw 2 visitors to the unit from the Royal Marines Association.  Mr Brian Tinnion and Mr John Tuson were visiting to express their thanks to Cdt L/Cpl Nicklin who undertook a sponsored run up the Rock of Gibraltar back in February.

The monies L/Cpl Nicklin raised which totaled £350 were equally split between Aylesbury Unit and the Royal Marines Association.  ‘Bravo Zulu’ !

September 2015 - RMCD CATSEA, Bramley

Over the weekend of 18th to 20th September, 8 Royal Marine cadets and 3 staff travelled down to Bramley training area to take part in CATSEA 2015 (Company Annual Training & Safety Efficiency Appraisal).  This is a very important part of the Royal Marine Cadets calendar and shows how the detachment operates as a whole.

Led by L/Cpl Nicklin with 2ic L/Cpl Medhurst, the cadets consisting of MC2's Fitzgerald, Wilson, George, St John, Millward- Stone and Wells were assessed on their skills over the whole weekend which consisted of field-craft, weapons handling, map reading and battle orders. The weekend cumulated in a simulated attack on enemy forces.

The cadets put in a fantastic effort and smashed last year's score by miles scoring 80/100 and coming in 3rd out of 23 units in attendance. A fantastic result – Bravo Zulu!!

Whilst the cadets were being assessed, CI Cooper was taking part in the field-craft module, which is part of the adult modular training undertaken by RMC staff when they join as uniformed instructors. Well done CI Cooper on successfully passing the module.
