2011 Awards Night

2011 Awards Night

On the 24th February 2012 we celebrated the achievments of cadets from 2011. Awards were presented to cadet by the Unit President, Mr John Hudson, Unit Chairman and his wife, Mr and Mrs John Hornby, Deputy Mayor of Barrow-In-Furness, Cllr Wendy Maddox, District Officer, Lt Cdr(SCC) P Burns RNR MBE, and the Commanding Officer's wife, Mrs L Creighton. Cadets were recognised from a number of things ranging from Advancement in Specialisations to the Best All Round Cadet. The awards were as follows:

Andy Cooke Shield for Best All Round Bandsman - AC B John

Craven Trophy for Competions - POC J Bell

Commanding Officers Award for Dedication and Commitment - POC N Phillips

Canon Eric Notman Trophy for Best All Round Rating - AC M Fugler

FOSNNI Trophy for Advancement by a Royal Marine Cadet - L/Cpl J Spiers

Sir John and Lady Fisher Trophy for the Best Sea Cadet - LC C Maclean

For 2011 The Opher Trophy for the Best All Round Division went to the Royal Marine Cadets.

RMC Field Assessment

The Barrow Unit's Royal Marine Cadet Detachment completed the annual SRMO's field assesment. The marines carried out their section attack in terrbbile weather conditions. However, despite the weather, they came back with a Very Good. They were only 1 point away from sharing the top score with two other units.
