Yesterday nine Brentwood cadets accompanied by the Chairman and PO Eagle attended this years District Shooting and Archery competition held at Southend Unit.

Our Juniors competed in the Archery and our Seniors competed in both Shooting and Archery Elements.

Last weekend our Un-armed Drill Squad, accompanied by CPO (SCC) N Walsh and PO (SCC) D Eagle, headed down to HMS Raleigh at Torpoint to experience the National Drill Competition. The Squad had already successfully competed at District and Area Levels to earn their place with achievements for the Squad and the Squad Commander.

We arrived late on Friday, cadets were allocated their accommodation and then met up with other cadets from across the Country - some from as far afield as Northern Ireland and Scotland! Up early on the Saturday , breakfast then final uniform checks before heading to the parade ground.

The Squad were second in the running order and this enabled them to relax for the rest of the day, observing the other teams routines and taking away some useful ideas - whilst supporting other cadets from London Area.

Southwest Area and Eastern Area finished 1st and 2nd in our category as we came a valiant 5th in both the Squad and Squad Commander categories!

As the event reached its end we heard from the outgoing Captain Sea Cadets , Captain Jonathon Holloway RN and also the new Captain,  Captain Phil Russell RN - cadets received their awards and partied with the other teams!

we are very proud of our cadets achievements in reaching the National Competition - roll on 2016!!!

Brentwood cadets and our Chairman were recognised for their commitment to the Sea Cadets and attended a presentation ceremony on Sunday. The event was held at Kensington great hall in London and representatives from across London Area joined them to receive their Medals and Certificates with Captain Sea Cadets in attendance.

 Last weekend our team of 6 cadets took part in the district Advex competition held at Maldon. It drew on the cadets training on navigation, teamwork, problem solving and leadership. A popular event with the cadets as 10 out of the 11 units entered teams this year.

Cadets had to apply campcraft skills which included making camp for a night in tents and using camping rations to maintain their energy.

A tough but fun event in which we finished 6th overall - well done guys!
