Are you aged 10-18 years and interested in participating in new and exciting activities? Conwy County Sea Cadets are hosting an Open Evening on Thursday 2nd October 2014 to show what our organisation is about and will be demonstrating numerous of activities that you could be involved in.

We will also let you participate in small taster sessions, along with our trained instructors. We offer a range of qualifications from First Aid, Navigation, Marine Engineering to various water sports. Come along between 7pm and 9pm to find out more about the unit staff, cadets and organisation. We are located at All Saints Avenue, Deganwy. The Sea Cadets joined forces with the Army and Air cadets to venture abroad to Wormhout, France; which is Llandudno's twinned town, to carry out acts of remembrance and parades, for the WW1 100 years commemorations.

We visited a museum in Perrone, a Massacare Site in Wormhout, Lochnagar Crater, Theipval Memorial, Mametz Wood, Mametz Town and Wormhout Church for Mass.

We laid 4 wreaths at various memorial sites, and cadets were given personal time to look for a name on the Theipval Memorial to research later, but then, lay their name on a poppy leaf and carry out the correct marks of respect.

Cadets were involved in a number of parades, on both occasions were soaked by the rain, but still carried on. 

On the return journey, we travelled via Ferry on the DFDS Seaway ferry from Dunkirk to Dover. The CO managed to get all sea cadets, staff and 4 air training corps staff a visit to the bridge of the ship. Cadets were given an overview of the running of the ship by the Officer of the Day, and had an opportunity to take photographs. 

It turns out the Officer of the Day is an Ex-Cadet from Burton unit, where the CO is good friends with the unit CO here! Small World!

Operation Aberhout 100, was a very tiring, yet beneficial event and we will be looking to do something similar in the future.

The Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps visited the unit on Thursday 17th July for an informal visit. 

The Captain met members of the unit management committee, staff, parents and cadet.

Captain Jon Holloway RN visited the classes in Navigation, Qualities of an Instructor, Drill and a junior lesson on rowing theory making paddles (Oars). 

We have now updated the unit calendar on the page to reflect some minor changes and additions to our programme.

Conwy County Unit has been awarded a Burgee, after a rigorous inspection process by the North Wales District Officer and North West Area Officer. This is the highest efficiency rating that any Sea Cadet Unit can achieve, making the unit one of the top 25% in the whole of the Sea Cadet Corps.

The last time the unit had this level of efficiency was in 1978!

A fantastic achievement, that now needs to be kept up!
