On Wednesday 6th November 2013 TS Forward Corps of Drums performed at the Imperial War Museum in Salford, Manchester for the Re-dedication Service of HMS Biter
HMS Biter, after years of sterling service allowing countless students sea-time on board around the shores of the UK was the first of the 16-strong P2000 fleet to enter an extended period of refit, during which time she was entirely re-engined, extending her life for a period of 15 years.
The Re-dedication formed up of formal divisions with the inspection of the ship’s company and URNU members taken by Admiral Jones, followed by a reception. This also allowed the ship to re-affirm her affiliation with the Manchester District Sea Cadets, and the Worshipful Company of Tallow Chandlers. Other guests include: Lord Lieutenant of Manchester, High Sheriff of Manchester, Lord Mayor of Manchester, Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Elected Mayor of Salford. The Cadets enjoyed a tour and got a feel of being onboard a Royal Naval vessel.
Early in the week, Cadets from TS Forward had the chance to sail onboard HMS Biter and also received a goodie bag from the ships company. They sailed from Ellesmere Port to Salford Quays and even though the weather was against them it was still a day to remember by all.
A huge thank you from all at TS Forward to the ship's company of HMS Biter
