New RIB Engine - March 2015

New RIB Engine - March 2015

In March 2015, just in time for the start of the boating season in April, we managed to secure funding to replace our ageing RIB engine.  After seven years of loyal service, the old engine had passed its best.  With generous donations from CAE(UK), South West Water and the MSSC, and some further fund raising, we received our new engine and had the pleasure of "running it in" around Carrick Roads.

Area Drill Competition - March 2015

Area Drill Competition - March 2015

In March, our unit represented the Cornwall District Sea Cadets at the Southwest Area Sea Cadet Drill Competition.  As always standards were high, and our cadets came in a very respectable third place.  Our Guard Commander also came in third.  Well done to them and to PO(SCC) Howle for his coaching.

Presentation Evening - February 2015

Presentation Evening - February 2015

On 19th February 2015, we held our Presentation Evening where awards in various categories are presented to cadets to recognise their achievements throughout the previous year. Our ViP for the evening, Sarah Newton MP, made the presentations to the cadets. We thank all of our distinguished guests and parents for attending the evening, and also our donors for providing sailing bursaries for some of our award winners.

District Drill Competition - February 2015

District Drill Competition - February 2015

In February, our Unit took part in the Sea Cadet Cornwall District Drill Competition at HMS Raleigh.  After many days of hard work by the cadets and PO(SCC) Dave Howle, they took to the drill shed at HMS Raleigh to execute their routine.  The cadets performed admirably and are now preparing for the Sea Cadet Southwest Area Drill Competition next month.  Excellent work by all involved.
