As the country prepares for the 2012 Olympics in London, Huyton sea cadets have been competing locally and will soon go on to compete at National level themselves. THe sea cadets have shown a variety of positive attributes to sports and sportsmanship. To be a part of the teams they have worked hard, shown dedication, loyalty and team working skills throughout the boating and competition season. In doing this and working together they have shown that dedication and hardwork along with skill and fitness pays off. They have recently competed broadly against sea cadets from throughout the North west of England with amazing results; Cdt sergeant Kellaher led the teams to victory when scooping the winning trophy for the senior boys kayaking, Able cadet cogley went on to win the topper class sailing and in team sport the junior girls and junior boys teams after winning their competitions will be heading to the national regatta in September. the power boat handling team also had the opportunity to show off their power-boating skills which was a unit 1st in this competition.
Following the success all cadets will now commence training for the national regattas where they will compete against sea cadets from England, Scotland and northern Ireland. The rowers and kayakers will compete in London, while the sailing will compete locally at Crosby. Huyton sea cadets team will be heading to Gibraltar next week for a relaxing summer camp before the next phase of training commences. Interested in joining any of our teams?
