16-Dec-10
It was to be a game of two halves, and with 3 full lanes, the competition was tough. Standing out in their class in their first bowl were Ross and Anthony with a spare, while nothing very obvious happened amongst the staff, other than PO Stewart missing completely.
In the Juniors, Samuel started off badly, by missing everything having been denied the bumper rails, fighting his way up to win game 1 with the help of 3 spares. This knocked Ross into 2nd place, while Cameron took 3rd.
Meanwhile in the Cadets, John took the lead with his second bowl, and Anthony slipped all the way back to 4th until he found his stride again and regained the lead at the 3rd, and stayed there to win, Scott showed great flair throughout but only delivered 2nd, while John sauntered into 3rd place.
The second half started with PO Stewart taking a double strike to be followed by another at the end, and a single strike thrown in between for good measure, giving him the high score for the night, but as staff, it doesnt count!
Phillip and Cameron improved their game on the second outing while Ross and Samuel suffered from exhaustion after the first half, but on his first contest away from the rails, it was Samuel that finished overall Top Junior Boy, with Ross Runner-up, and Cameron in Third. Top Junior Girl from the start was Lorin, no contest!
In the Cadets, everyone picked up the pace in the second round, but Scott shot ahead to take the top score of the night (seeing as PO Stewart doesnt count!), with John and Anthony not far behind. At the rear of the pack, it was very closely fought and while Daniel almost doubled his first score, Nathan and Blane made big improvements leaving Ryan and Lewis fighting for survival. In the end though, it was Anthony that took the honnors, with Scott Runner up, and John in Third. Again, the Top Girl Cadet was a clear victory, this time for Rhiannon.
PO Lindsay will be chuft that having been second in both games, he came out on top, knocking PO Stewart to take Runner up and Mr Balfour Third. Sir was very nearly mentioned!
