Cadet from across Eastern Area attended the RMCD Summer Camp between the 11th and 18th of August.
This years camp continued continuation training for all Marine Cadets within X-Ray Company but it also formed part of the Presentation of the Companies new Colours.
Kettering Units Band provided the musical section to the Parade and also the Units Corps of Drums provided the Drum Head Alter for the Blessing of X-Ray Companies New Colour.
800 NAS SCC has suffered from the loss of its longest serving members of staff.
CPO Nick Patrick (Chiefy) sadley passed away in Kettering General Hospital early on Tuesday 24th July 2012.
Nick had been a member of staff for 36 years and was instrumental in the building of the Kettering Unit and the Area Boating Station at Thrapston.
The Cadets and Staff provided a guard of honour as nick crossed the Bar to ensure he recieved a funeral with military honours.
The second stages of the Sea Cadets Corps 5 a-side football tournament took place on the 4th Dec ’11 and our team (comprising of Cpl Harris, Cpl J Dexter, Cpl N Dexter, MC1 Weeks and MC1 Fry) were keen to show off their skills!
With Cpl Wilson as referee (!) our cadets were unfortunately knocked out at this stage; having won 2 games, losing 1 and drawing 1. Fry wasn’t sure what sport he was playing at times as he seemed to prefer lying on the floor rather than kicking the ball – much to the cries of “get up” that were echoing around! Pre match warnings about not celebrating when goals were scored were hard to adhere too...though the fear of instant disqualification was on their minds! All in all the cadets had a great time and were disappointed to have been knocked out at this stage.
Special thanks to Kettering Science Academy for lending us some football strip so that our cadets were all turned out in uniform navy (rather than the hotch potch of PE kits which could have appeared!).
So, well done to all those that participated and remember – you have a year to practice before the next tournament!
Hundreds of sea cadets marched through Kettering to mark one of Britain’s most historic naval victories.
Members of cadet organisations from across the region were supported by the Kettering Sea Cadet Band as they paraded through the town on Sunday to mark the Battle of Trafalger.
The battle resulted in Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson’s victory over the combined fleets of the French and Spanish navies on October 21.
The event started with a stand to attention in Market Square and an inspection from Captain Andrew Barnwell RDRNL.
The members then paraded through the town to Toller United Reformed Church, in Gold Street, for a church service led by the Rev Helen Carr.
Chairman of the parents committee at the Kettering Sea Cadets, John Yeoman, said: “I’m proud of all the cadets who came to Kettering for the event.”
He added: “It is important we continue to mark such events in our country’s history.”
Wicksteed Park lake has become the new home for Kettering Sea Cadets to undertake all their waterborne training activities. The facilities were kindly offered to the unit by....................... as the park undertakes a major project to clean and expand the use of the lake. It wasn't long before the cadets were out displaying their boating skills in their own boats when they joined in Wicksteed Parks 90th Anniversary celebrations. The cadets were blessed with a dry sunny day and they had great fun pulling and sailing.
