Milford Haven Royal Marines Cadets have satisfied and succeeded during the first ever annual field assessment for our Detachment!
Every year a serving Royal Marine Colour Sergeant assesses every Royal Marines Cadet Detachment in the United Kingdom during the field assessment. This comprises of a number of stances based on the training that they are given e.g. camouflage and concealment, map building and reading to name but a few.
The first year for every Detachment is normally a non-assessed “walk through” of the assessment; however our Detachment decided to go straight in at the deep end. We came out with a successful grading of “Satisfactory” which is average for established Detachments.
Sub Lieutenant (SCC) William Elliott RNR, the Commanding Officer comments “I am over the moon to see that our first ever assessment in the field was successful and that the hard work that the cadets and staff have put in have paid off! We have been extremely lucky to have received funding for equipment from the Town Council and Youth Bank and this has certainly influenced the excellent training that we are able to provide!”
In order to join the Royal Marines Cadets you need to be 13 years old; however, if you fall just under the age bracket but wish to put your name down on a waiting list, until your closer to the mark then please come along and speak to the Staff.
