T.S. JOHN JERWOOD - PORTRUSH SEA CADETS - FULL...

Portrush Sea Cadets 'manned', as full crew under training in T.S. JOHN JERWOOD for ten days, commencing on the west coast of Scotland, the Scottish Isles to Carrickfergus, ending on the 20th. September 2008. The cadets cooked a buffet luncheon for special guests onboard. At the same time, they were able to observe the emergency rehearsal rescue with the RNLI and Royal Navy Rescue helicopter at sea in Belfast Lough.

The RAMORE headland takes in the West Bay and Portrush Harbour- where Portrush Sea Cadets were formed in 1942 – the Unit building was above the coal shed, now the modern premises of Coleraine Yacht Club.

The Admiral Hallifax Bosun's Call Trophy. This trophy is awarded to the Cadet who is the most proficient in the use of the boatswain's call on board T.S. WOLTEMADE. In 2011, the trophy was awarded to Petty Officer Chantay Taylor who is a female Cadet.

Petty Officer C. Taylor marches up smartly to Mr. Michael Pinner - Secretary Seven Seas Club and, Baxter and Grimshaw Trust, to receive the Admiral Hallifax Bosun's Trophy.

Award winning specialist designer in 'live' and static Willow Sculpture

Louise McLean is a artist / designer qualified in several disciplines of traditional and contemporary craft practice: Willow sculpture and Woodcarving. The sculptural side of her work uses 'Living' and 'Non-living' willow.

On the occasion of the naming and launching of their five new boats: three TRINITY 500 rowing boats and two powerboats – HI SOCIETY, RATHLIN, DUNLUCE, RAMORE and CAUSEWAY, foul anchor willow sculptures were commissioned by Portrush Sea Cadets. T.S. DUKE OF YORK . Louise accepted the challenge; five foul anchors, handcrafted from LOCAL willow, all grown in Portrush.
