For the First time ever theUnit Band took part in the annual Totton Carnival.

Starting at Calmore Industrial Estate they marched all the way through Totton Town Centre to a playing field near Eling Wharf some 4.5 miles (approx).

Looking good and sounding great a brilliant afternoon and great publicity.

If you are interested in the band it is open to all fully enrolled Cadets and Junior Sea Cadets, so if you are looking for a new challenge then curent cadets and Juniors should speak to PO Williams the Band Master.

Royal Navy Sailing Centre - HMS Excellent - Portsmouth

The Unit entered 4 teams in to the annual rowing regatta, this year saw the first entry from the Junior Sea cadet Section who did outsandingly well in their section against the other Units in the District.

The Senior Boys, Senior Girls and Junior Boys crews all raced on the day, which was warm and sunny, with smiling faces and the results were one of the best set seen in the last few years.

Winchester Cathedral

The Unit once again attended the Southampton Master Mariners Club Shipping Festival, which is an annual event for us and the Master Mariner's.

As in previous years the older cadets paraded carrying the house flags of all the major shipping companies that are either UK based or have a UK Operation, the younger cadets this year formed a Guard of Honour for the VIP in attendance.

This was the Unit's second Royal Engagement this year as the guest of honour was HRH Princess Anne The Princess Royal, who took the time to talk to nearly all of the cadets.

The end of the evening was marked with the traditional garden party, and Cadet Petty Officer Zoe Becket was chosen to present The Princess Royal with a posie of flowers from the Master mariner's Club.

The Unit entered a small Paddlesport team in to the Wessex District Regatta held at Salisbury Unit.

With a mixed bag of results the Senior Girls Squad performed the best bringing away Bronze and Silver medals.

Leading Cadet Emm and Leading Cadet Paintain will be representing the District at the Area Competition, well done to you both.

24th - 26th May 2013

The unit joined forces with Bridgwater Unit in Somerset and travelled the the National Sea Cadet Traing Centre in Weymouth, to undertake a weekend of training on the water.

The cadets participated in Sailing and Power Boating at various levels, with each one of them gaining a qualifications in either Sailing or Power Boating.

The training centre is a National Facility with direct access to the water from Weymouth Harbour and can accomadate up to 70 male and female cadets, as well as offering the full range of afloat training, they offer a full range of shore based activities and has recently become a centre of excellence for the Marine Engineering Specialisation.

It was a great weekend with loads of hours on the water, fair winds for sailing and lots of sunshine.
