Our unit's marching band was recently asked to perform for the first time at the International Mersey River Festival. Over the course of the day the band did over ten performances, both marching and static, and if the size of the crowds we drew were anything to go by they seemed to go down very well with the public! As well as performing the members of our band were able to explore the festival and see all of the other attractions on offer, such as the samba parade and various musical performances including one by the band of HM Royal Marines.

Shooting at Altcar- 05/06/2014
Our unit was recently invited to go to Altcar shooting range to spend the day in their virtual shooting range. They we taught by full-time Altcar shooting staff who guided them through weapon drills, calibrating their weapon, and virtual range shooting; at the end of the session their skills were put to the test with a warzone simulation in which they had to shoot at various enemies from the top of a moving vehicle. Although this is the first time our unit as done this activity, the cadets loved it and we are very hopeful about doing it again in the future.
Rowing Competition- 08/06/2014
Our rowing teams were put through their paces today as they competed in our district rowing competition. Throughout the day teams from units all over the city competed in heats, their friends cheering them on from the side, as they vied for a place in the area competition. Although none of our teams placed in the final results, we all enjoyed a fantastic day in the sun and will use this as valuable experience for the cadets to better prepare them for next year’s competition.
LURNU Passing Out Parade- 08/06/2014
Our unit marching band was recently asked to provide music to celebrate the passing out parade of the Liverpool University Royal Naval Unit. To kick off proceedings our band provided a short marching display along the waterfront, and later gave a static display to accompany the inspection of the squads. As usual our band played a mixture of traditional naval tunes and more modern pieces such as 'Wipeout'.
