OFF TO SEA

The October half term holiday provided the perfect opportunity for two Southwark cadets to spend time at sea.

They travelled to Gosport to join TS Royalist, the Sea Cadet tall ship brig.

Plenty more to come this year with two cadets travelling to HMS Raleigh immediately after taking part in the National Trafalgar Day Parade for band training.

More cadets will training aboard TS Royalist and HMS Raleigh during November. 

NATIONAL TRAFALGAR DAY PARADE

As always Southwark Sea Cadets supported the National Trafalgar Day Parade with representatives in the London Area Junior Display Team and Guard.

LONDON AREA JSC DISPLAY TEAM

Four Junior Sea Cadets from Southwark SC Unit took part in the National Trafalgar Day Parade as part of the London Area Display Team.

After attending training at HMS President they travelled to Wellington Barracks before the parade started.

On completion of the displays and parade in Trafalgar Square it was back up the Mall to Wellington Barracks with the remainder of the parade.

SIMS AWARDS DINNER 2016

Southwark cadets assisted at the WCSIM Awards Dinner in October.

Collecting the Cadet of the Year award on behalf of AC P Prescod was Andew East.

Paige was attending training at HMS Bristol in preparation for the National Trafalgar Day Parade.

ANNUAL NATIONAL SERVICE FOR SEAFARERS 2016

A busy October continued with cadets attending The Annual National Service for Seafarers in St Paul's Cathedral. Representatives of many seafaring organisations attend the event with a number of Sea Cadet Units participating in some capacity. Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and The Lord Mayor of London were among the distinguished guests present. The first service was held in 1905, 100 years after the death of Nelson, with only a few gaps since then during the First and Second World Wars.

Next year's service will be held in St Paul's Cathedral on Wednesday 11th October 2017. The National Trafalgar Day Parade will take place in London commencing 11:00 on Sunday 23rd October 2017.
