Alfie Button, Andrew East, Ronnie Francis and Harry Tutt were all members of the London Area Platoon in this year's National Trafalgar Day Parade.

Another 6 cadets from Southwark provided support in and around Trafalgar Square providing assistance and information to the large number of spectators present to see the event.

Well done to all involved.

Four cadets set off for Portsmouth where they will be accommodated onboard HMS Bristol.

Friday and Saturday will be spent training before selection for places in the London Area Platoon.

Then on Sunday 19 October 2014 it will be an early start with transport to Wellington Barracks before marching along the Mall for the National Trafalgar Day Parade in Trafalgar Square.

A busy October continued with cadets attending The Annual National Service for Seafarers in St Paul's Cathedral. Representatives of many seafaring organisations attend the event with a number of Sea Cadet Units participating in some capacity. Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal was also in also in attendance. Southwark had a number of cadets attending while others were there with London Nautical School. The first service was held in 1905, 100 years after the death of Nelson, with only a few gaps since then during the First and Second World Wars.

This year the Tower of London is playing a unique role in the commemorative events marking the outbreak of the First World War with one of the most stunning artistic commemorations of the centenary.

Since 18 July 2014 the Tower’s moat has started to turn entirely red through the installation of over 800,000 ceramic poppies, each one beautifully handmade in the studio of artist Paul Cummins.

Many volunteers are needed to complete the project by 11 November and Southwark cadets were keen to be involved.

With the assistance of South East London Sector ACF most cadets have now completed Weapon Handling Tests on the No 8 .22 rifle.

Small-bore target rifle shooting will resume shortly.

All are now training for WHT's on the BSA Scorpion Air Rifle.
