TOTALLY THAMES FEATIVAL

On both Saturday and Sunday Wood McCarthy and Oscar Reyes joined forces with City of London cadets to man the Sea Cadet PR stand at Potters Fields during the Totally Thames Festival weekend.

Totally Thames takes place over the whole month of September, a new season of arts, cultural and river events presented by Thames Festival Trust throughout the 42-mile stretch of the Thames in London.

Alfie Button and Andrew East volunteered to help at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games.

Over 400 competitors from 13 nations will take part in the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women. Teams will come from the armed forces of nations that have served alongside each other. The games will use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect of those who serve their country.

Southwark Sea Cadets are proud to be involved.

AN AUDIENCE WITH MR SPEAKER

PO Ben Wood together with Harry Tutt and Ronnie Francis joined forces with Kingston unit to help with the Totally Thames Festival 'Source to Sea River Relay.

1 bottle, 200+ miles.  Walkers, swimmers, rowers, and more come together in this unique relay, passing a bottle filled with water from the Thames’ source, through the capital, and out to sea.

For this leg of the relay the bottle was handed to John Berkow, The Speaker of the House of Commons.

NATIONAL COMBINED REGATTA

NATIONAL COMBINED REGATTA

PO James Thompson and PPO Ben Wood assisted at the Sea Cadet National Combined Regatta 2014 which was held at Royal Victoria Dock alongside the Excel Centre. On the following day it was back to the RVDBS, adjacent to the London Regatta Centre, for skills assessment for power and sailing which is a prerequisite for attending Power Boat Instructor and Dinghy Instructor courses in the near future. Both are to be congratulated on their efforts.

TRAFALGAR DAY PARADE SELECTION

TRAFALGAR DAY PARADE SELECTION

Cadets attended CTC Blackheath aiming for selection for the prestigious London Area Platoon at this years National Trafalgar Day Parade.

Alfie Button, Harry Tutt, Ronnie Francis and Andrew East were successful and will attend 3 days of training at the British Army Longmoor Camp before taking part in the parade in Central London on Sunday 19 October 2014.

Come along to watch the parade form up in Wellington Barracks before marching down the Mall with the main event in Trafalgar Square before returning to Wellington Barracks.
