Remembrance Sunday is important to all and TS Cossack SCC is proud to contribute to the local RBL Parade. Less than a month after the 70th anniversary of the loss of World War ll 'Cossack' it is an ideal opportunity to pay tribute to all who made the ultimate sacrifice in 1941 and to all those who have served their Country before and since. It is a fitting tribute to have 'Cossack' cap tallies on parade.

Cadets were out in force to support the Lord Mayor's Parade. With City of London unit being the only Sea Cadets closer to the City it is important for Southwark cadets to provide cadets for the Platoon and Float. With nice weather for the 2nd year running it was an enjoyable day for all so watch the television for any footage of the Sea Cadet contingents which also included Southern Area Band.

November commenced with a series of visits, the first being Chatham Historic Dockyard. Highlights of the visit included the Ropery, HMS Ocelot, HMS Gannett and much more. There wasn't time to see all as in the afternoon it was over to Maidstone for free time in a local leisure pool. More to come end of 2011 and early 2012 with visits to Gillingham Icebowl, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the Royal navy Submarine Museum and Fleet Air Arm Museum.

A busy half term holiday

A busy half term holiday

There are many opportunities for activities during school holidays and Southwark cadets usually take advantage.

So for Alfie Button it was off to the Welsh Harp Boating Station for an advanced sailing course. Having already achieved RYA Stage 3 this year the weeks training provided an improver course for Stage 4 and, more importantly, a weeks sailing.

Sadly Callum Malone missed this years Trafalgar Day Parade but this was only to spend a week aboard the Sea cadet sail training brig Royalist. He joined at Fort Blockhouse Gosport for what may in the Corps belive is the ultimate experience.

And there are still plenty of opportunities before the end of 2011, 3 cadets are off to HMS Raleigh in November to take part in a 5 day Naval Acquaint course.
