DISTRICT FIRST AID COMPETITION

There was strong competition at this years London Southern District First Aid Competition.

The cadet team from Southwark worked hard to finish in second place, out of nine units taking part.

In the beast individual performance Southwark cadets took 1st and 2nd place.

The unit Junior Sea Cadet team also made a strong challenge.

Well done to all taking part.

WEEKEND CAMP

Mereworth Woods training area near Maidstone provided an ideal venue for a weekend camp.

Activities includes ice skating, swimming, camping and map & compass work.

We expect to have more weekends under canvass in the future.

TEAMWORK, PERSONAL SKILLS AND CITIZENSHIP IN...

Four cadets from Southwark were among the 50 from London Area who attended a presentation at HMS President. Attendees were presented with their BTEC Level 1 in TEAMWORK, PERSONAL SKILLS AND CITIZENSHIP IN YOUTH ORGANISATIONS (UNIFORMED) by the Master, Worshipful Company of Leathersellers.

The Leathersellers Company funded this pilot project and the qualification is now available to all Sea Cadets throughout the UK.

 

PEARLY KINGS AND QUEENS

Costermongers' Harvest Festival 2016

September is not complete without the Costermongers' Harvest Festival at Guildhall in the City of London.

Our cadets paraded alongside cadets from Hornchurch as well as representatives from the Royal British Legion and HMS President, and watched the traditional entertainment on show before marching to St Mary-le-Bow Church.

The event was attended by many Mayors, Donkey's and Carts, Marching Bands and of course the Pearly Kings & Queens and many other colourful characters such as the Chelsea Pensioners.  

SCTC WEYMOUTH

Three cadets travelled to Weymouth for a busy weekend training and their Pre Dinghy Instructor Skills Assessment.

Next will be the Dinghy Instructor Course.
