FUNDING BOOST FOR SOUTHWARK SEA CADETS

Southwark Sea cadets has received £570 thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

 The funding boost from People’s Postcode Trust has enable Southwark Sea Cadets to purchase additional band equipment.

 People’s Postcode Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. 55p from every £2 ticket goes to support good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

Captain Sea Cadets visits Southwark

Captain Philip Russell Royal Navy, Captain Sea Cadets, paid a visit to Southwark cadets while waterborne at Royal Victoria Dock Boating Station.

 

 

Scientific Instrument Makers Summer Ball

Cadets provided a carpet guard and piping party at the WCSIM Summer Ball held at Merchant Taylors Hall in the heart of the City Of London.

One of the Great Twelve Livery Companies of the City of London. Livery Companies, or Guilds as they were previously known, began in mediaeval times as fraternities which were often religious but also there to protect the interests of particular trades. There are now 108 City Livery Companies.

Originating in 1327, like all livery companies, the Merchant Taylors is now a social and charitable organisation. The last working tailors in the Company are believed to have been at the end of the 17th century, though links with the trade have recently been revived.
