Celebrating 75 years ....
St Helens Sea Cadet Unit was first founded in 1942 and was one of the first founding units of the SCC from its predecessor, the Navy League. The unit itself was first owned and used by the Army as a military barracks and can be traced to the beginning of the Second World War. Many rumours surround the units use in this period due to the Ghost sightings that attract many people from around the world to visit. However, the units development through the years is extroidinary.
St Helens unit has in the past won several awards such as the Canada Trophy which the unit won consequetively throughout the 90's. Still today, we are still nominated to take part in competitions and challenges such as the famous Gibraltar Cup.
The unit itself has a unique and diverse history that should be praised and celebrated. For more than 70 years, the unit has trained thousands of young children and adults and seen them develop into remarkable citizens of society. By doing so, the unit has become a symbol of knowledge and passion of which every new member receives and passes on as time goes by.
