IT’S ALL GONE QUACKERS!

IT’S ALL GONE QUACKERS!

On 6th July 2013, Stockton Sea Cadets had the very important job of launching the hundreds of yellow plastic ducks in to the River Tees as part of the Mayors Duck Race.

Members of the public were invited to buy a duck for £1 to take part and the first ducks to cross the finish line saw their owner’s scoop prizes. All of the money raised will go to the charities run by The Rifles, The Yorkshire Regiment and REME to help their wounded.

Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Kathryn Nelson, said: “I’m delighted that so many people took the opportunity to take part and everyone who participated really got into the spirit of the competition which raised valuable funds for these charities.  Congratulations to all of the winners!”

Tracy has been a volunteer for Stockton Sea Cadets for just over 12 months and she is one of the 8 Unit Management Team members.  As a busy working Mum, Tracy fits her job as a Staff Nurse at the local hospital around her volunteering and over the course of the last few months, she has been busy fundraising for the Unit to enable the Stockton Sea Cadets to get the most out of the Sea Cadet experience.

Tracy said:

“I chose to volunteer because I wanted to help out. I get a lot of satisfaction from fundraising and raising the profile of the Stockton Unit. Our Unit Management Team meetings take place once every 4 – 6 weeks which means I can fit it around my busy life. I know just a few hours of my time each month makes a positive difference to the lives of the Stockton Sea Cadets – seeing their laughter and enjoyment is what inspires me”.

STOCKTON SEA CADETS WELCOME BACK THE OLYMPIC...

STOCKTON SEA CADETS WELCOME BACK THE OLYMPIC...

Stockton Sea Cadets opened their doors to the public on Saturday 15th June 2013, to commemorate the 12 month anniversary of the Olympic Torch coming to our region.

The Torch made its way around Teesside in a whistle stop tour of the four Sea Cadet units, a year to the day it arrived in the North East.

Tim Clyburn, Commanding Officer of Stockton Sea Cadets said:

“This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for everyone from our region who got behind the Torch Relay, the Olympic and Paralympic Games this time last year. Our cadets and guests were able to hold, have their photograph taken with the Olympic Torch and revel in the spirit of London 2012. The Sea Cadets have been part of the fabric of Teesside for many years, which is why we were thrilled to offer this to everyone who wanted to create their own piece of London 2012 history”.
