Community Games 2018

This year, T.S. Sutton Coldfield took part once again in the annual Sutton Coldfield Community Games! Here, we had drill examples as well as gave small seamanship sessions to passers by!

Our cadets were out on the offence as they approched and engaged with members of the community, getting them to complete our tasks and spreading the word of what T.S. Sutton Coldfield does!

BZ to all the cadets involved!

Area Rowing Regatta 2018

Area Rowing Regatta 2018

For the first time in several years, T.S. Sutton Coldfield sent a Senior Boys Rowing Team through to the Area Competition. After weeks of intense training, the time for their passion and skill had come as they raced against eight other teams.

Fending off the competition, the Senior Boys came 1st, 1st, 2nd and 1st, leaving them to be the Overall Winners of the Senior Boy Catagory 2018! This secured their spot in the National Competition, a feat that hasn't been accomplished by Sutton Coldfield Sea Cadets in many years!

BZ to all teams and good luck at the National Competition!

This year, we entered a team consisting of a single Quest into the competition! With little-to-no-training, the team managed to pull through every race with their determination and skill.

On their first time sailing together, the Quest team successfully managed to take 1st Place at the District Competition, beating several other teams in their catagory and securing their place at the Area Competition!

BZ to the team, good luck at Area!

Annual General Meeting 2018

Annual General Meeting 2018

This evening we had our Annual General Meeting. A time when our UMC from the previous year welcomes all instructors, parents and supports to the unit to update them on where the unit is going. This is also a time for anyone new to join the UMC!

This year we saw a good turnout of parents and supporters, with five of them joining the UMC as new members.

We also saw our Chairperson from the past few years, Mr Peter Horrocks; announce that he is not standing for Chairperson again this year. Following this, an almost new UMC has been selected! We would like to welcome:

Chairperson: Mr Nigel Smith
Vice Chairperson: Mr Jason Guiden
Treasurer: Mrs Anat Kanengisser
Health and Safety: Mr Alan Robbinson
Fundraising: Ms Amy Ganley
Secretary: Mr Anthony Taylor

We would like to extend our thanks once more to Mr Peter Horrocks for guiding us through the previous years, and wish luck to our new Unit Management Committee!
