The past few months have been a testing time for us all and we have all had to change and adapt our normal routine, to the ever changing new rules regulations and regimes, imposed on us due to this pandemic.
In order to keep you all updated here is a brief summary of what has been happening behind the scenes at Thornbury Sea Cadets.
The unit has been checked regularly and has been made COVID secure, we are currently actively planning modernising the toilet facilities, this will hopefully take place whilst the unit is still temporarily closed so as to minimise disruption to the Cadets. This has been enabled by a substantial grant from South Gloucester council from their COVID funding.
Access to the building is also being looked at to include improved access for all capabilities.
Our annual general meeting will be held virtually on the 12th November and our Chairperson will send out a separate invite to you all for this.
On our eventual return to parading, we will have to change the way we operate on an evening. This will include track and trace logging, hand sanitising, restrictions on visitors and numbers allowed in the unit.
I appreciate our Cadets and Staff are eager to return to the unit to carry on with Sea Cadet activities, but this has to be done properly to ensure everyone is kept safe and we are following government and Sea Cadet guidelines.
I intend to keep you all informed on how we are progressing towards our safe return to Sea Cadet normality by sending out regular updates and bulletins by e mail and on our Facebook page.
