As a unit we go boating all year round, but the one thing that is lacking is the units instuctors with RYA Power Boat Level 2 Course. Over 3 Very Cold weekends the Units staff ventured out onto the river and carried out the course.

The unit first major course of 2012 took place at the unit which was a 3rd Class Marine Engineering course held in the Marine engineering facility.

The RNP was the final part of an assessment process which takes place over a number of weeks & includes the Unit review carried out by District staff that look at our training & training Records. The Authority to Train Inspection (ATTI) Once all the reports have been processed from the District & Area Staff these are then forwarded to the Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps who then decides on what efficiency award is to awarded the unit & for the First time in our 4 year history we have been awarded a Burgee which indicates we are in the top 25% of all the sea cadet units in the country & are probably the youngest ever unit to receive this award.

Well done on achieving your first Burgee, you have built on the firm foundation from last year & greatly enhanced the cadets' experience. I wish you all good fortune on your aspirations for the next 2 to 3 years I think that to build your waterborne fleet & progress D of E training is commendable. Your Burgee will be awarded.

After a busy Year

Within the District each year the unit takes part in a number of competitions against the other 10 units & the result & points awarded for entering these competitions goes towards the District Trophy.

So far we have entered 23 competitions with The district 5 aside football which will be our final competition this year taking place on Sunday the 6th November at HMS Sultan. Currently we are in the Lead with 183 points and Salisbury unit are a close second with 145 points, we need to enter each category next weekend to secure the trophy We need your support in this event! & Lets lift that trophy - Potentially another first for the Unit !
We need to enter 2 Jnr Section teams (10-12 yrs), as well as a Jnr boys & girls (12-15 yrs), & Senior boys & girls (15-18 yrs) team
Please let's get as many cadets as we can to enter.

On a very hot sunny summers day the unit took part in the Warsash Strawberry Fields Fete,  The event was opened by the unit when we carried out colours and then during the day the units Hornpipe and Clubs team carried out a number of display for the locals. To colse the fete the unit carried out evening colours.
