Worksop Sea Cadets performed a Standard Party in the Notts & Derby District Drill and Piping Competition on Saturday 30th November hosted by Chesterfield SCC. The Standard Party, which consisted of 5 cadets were the Standard Party winners and will go on to represent the District at the Area competition in January at Newark.
The Cadets have been training exceptionally hard over the last few months in preparation for the competition. Their hard work, hours of practise and determination paid off last Saturday when they won the District Standard Party Competition. Uniforms were impeccable, and the Standard Party display was exceptional and of a very high standard.
“It was the best display I have seen in years and it made me proud to say I’m from Worksop Sea Cadets.” - WO2(SCC) S.Gillert RNR, CO Worksop SCC
The team, lead and trained by POC S.Bloomfield, will now go on to the Area competition in January at Newark Showground representing Notts and Derby. Units from all Eastern Area will be competing in this competition to secure a place at the National Drill and Piping Competition at HMS RALEIGH so standards will be high.
In addition to coming home with a winning team trophy for their outstanding display, AC R.Arnold was announced Best Dressed Cadet in the District. This was an amazing achievement to receive this trophy, not only for AC Arnold but also for Worksop as this is the 3rd consecutive year they have won this award.
“I am proud of every single cadet that took part as all I asked is that they give it their best throughout the display and maintain the high standards of that Worksop is known for. I couldn’t have asked for more.” - POC S.Bloomfield
Worksop also entered, for the first time, a 6 plus 1 Junior Squad lead by J1C J.Hornagold and OC L.Sanderson represented the Unit in the Piping Competition. All cadets did extremely well. BZ Team.
