Naval Acquaint Course - HMS Raleigh

We have a number of our cadets going on this multi activity course from 10th-15th February 2013 (half term).  This is a very good course and is open to all ranks.  There are only two spaces left, so if you would like to go then let the staff know tonight (16th November).

The cost is £62.50.  (If this is likely to be too expensive, then either speak directly to a member of staff or ask an adult to call the office on 01935 452980.)

Yeovil Rotary Club has once again kindly invited our unit to take part in their annual Christmas Draw. This very generous offer involves no cost whatsoever to the unit, and we receive all the money from ticket sales PLUS 10%.

Each cadet should have taken home one book of five tickets to sell (£1 a ticket, £5 a book): it would be great if each cadet could sell at least one ticket each, if not a whole book.

We need to have the money and ticket stubs back by Tuesday 11th December.

Thank you for your support.

Parental help needed!

Parental help needed!

With over 90 cadets on roll, we have been fortunate in being able to have the use of another building for the Ship's Office and Stores, thus giving us two additional classrooms.  However, these (and the main deck) are in need of some urgent redecoration and our intention is to do this on Saturday 1st December.

We really need some parental assistance to do this.  Please let us know whether or not you can help - there was a reply slip on the bottom of the letter recently taken home by cadets, but if you have not seen this then you can email the unit or just write a note.  Equipment will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

The aim is to start at 8am and hopefully be finished by 2pm - much will depend on the level of support we receive.

Yeovil Remembrance Parade was outstanding.  All comments from the public, service personnel and British Legion were very positive about the standard of the Sea Cadets and Marine Cadets.
Well done - I am very proud of you all. BZ to all concerned

If any parents or families have photos or movies of the event could they please burn them onto a disc or memory stick and give it to me at the unit so we can produce something from it.

Thanks.

Simon Vokes, Commanding Officer.
