Marine Engineering 3rd Class Course- 6th to 8th...

Able Cadet Martin Spensley attended the ME3 courses at TS Iveston. TS Iveston is a unique resource for Sea Cadets. She was launched in 1955 as HMS Iveston, a ton class minesweeper. She provides an amazingly realistic environment for teaching Cadets the Marine Engineering syllabus. In addition, many waterborne qualifications are taught at Iveston, from her berth in Tilbury Docks access to the water couldn’t be easier.

She is lovingly maintained by Lt Cdr (SCC) George Wilson RNR and his dedicated team of helpers, including our own PPO Jason Rochester.

BCU FS & R Course- 30th August 2013

BCU FS & R Course- 30th August 2013

The cadets spent a third day at Danson to do the BCU Foundation Safety and Rescue Course. Again, all those over the minimum age passed. This is a rarely run course, getting so many cadets through it is a great result and will open opportunities for some of these cadets to become junior instructors. Most of these cadets will be undertaking their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition, in canoes, on the River Medway in late September.

Luke Short gains a BTEC- August 2013

We are keen to give our cadets every possible advantage at the start of their adult lives.  The BTEC scheme is one way that cadets can add to their educational achievement. PO Luke Short has been awarded a BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Public Services. He achieved this award by completing one of the 3 BTECs that are offered through the Sea Cadets. PO Short completed the qualification by using qualifications he has already gained in the Sea Cadets. In completing the qualification, he has gained a qualification worth 2 GCSEs. Well done PO Short!
