Details of the Bushcraft Day to follow....
In March, our unit was invited to join the St Nazaire Parade in Falmouth. This was followed by a parade to mark the Royal Naval Association (RNA) being given the Freedom of Falmouth.
As a "thank you" to the cadets who volunteered the most for parades and community events during the previous year, we took twelve cadets to RNAS Culdrose to have a "fly" in the Merlin Helicopter Simulator and Seaking Helicopter Simulator. The cadets were able to test their flying skills both, with some more successful than others!
During the weekend of the 7th to 9th February our Drill team of 13 cadets took part in the District Drill competition held at HMS Raleigh. This took place after several months of training and uniform preparation. The team came second with only a couple of points behind the winning team. The winners, Penzance Unit, went on to become national winners of the drill competition. Well done to the team, PO Dave Howle and the other staff that help during the preparations.
On 30th January 2014, we held our Presentation Evening where awards in various categories are presented to cadets to recognise their achievements throughout the previous year. Our ViP for the evening, Cdr. David Pledger RN, made the presentations to the cadets. We thank all of our distinguished guests and parents for attending the evening, and also our donors for providing sailing bursaries for some of our award winners.
