Poole Unit Sea Cadet Band travelled to Chatham Docks to take part in the Southern Area band contest. Having won now go through to Nationals in August at HMS Raleigh. Best Drum Major was also won by Poole Cadet, A/C Jasmine Hughes.
Poole Unit Sea Cadet Band travelled to Chatham Docks to take part in the Southern Area band contest. Having won now go through to Nationals in August at HMS Raleigh. Best Drum Major was also won by Poole Cadet, A/C Jasmine Hughes.
Poole Sea cadets took part in the annual Harry Paye Day festivities on Poole Quay. The unit band led the parade dressed in a style fitting for the day and a fundraising stall ran lucky dips and games.
As one of the four chosen charities Poole Sea Cadets took an active part in the fundraising day held in Poole Park. Despite a cool breezy day both the band and PT display team put on two performances each. The unit also had a fundraising stall with a raffle, lucky dip and games.
Congratulations to Poole Unit’s Armed Guard who became national winners at HMS Raleigh. A thoroughly deserved win after all the hours of practice and uniform preparation.
Well done also to the cadets from Poole Unit who were part of the unarmed drill squad with Southampton Unit. A very credible 3rd place.

T.S Drax, Poole Sea Cadet Unit held its opening on Friday 29th April. The event marked the completion of a project that commenced some 10 years ago when the foundations were laid to what is now the new boat shed. The project has given two new classrooms, enlarged main deck, new boat shed and a new roof. The ceremony was carried out by The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Chris Bulteel. Other guests present included The Mayoress Mrs Angela Bulteel, The Sheriff Cllr Graham Wilson and Mrs Wilson, High Sheriff of Dorset, Mr Alan Frost, Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Mr Peter Harvey, the Units President Cpt Malcolm Shakeby plus trustees, sponsors, supporters, staff and cadets.
Guests were welcomed by the units Chairman Mrs Jackie Maynard and Commanding Officer CPO (SCC) Stephen West. Catering was undertaken by cook stewards. The Unit band and PT display team put in performances throughout the evening and a slide show of Poole Unit in action was shown.
