Happy New Year

Happy New Year

2024 was another fantastic year for TS Salisbury, we were busy! Along with our usual programme of training, sailing, rowing, camp, and field exercises, last year the ships company were also active in the community, supporting local and national events.

We took part in commemorations for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day in June as well as activities marking 200 years of the RNLI. Cadets were involved in the launch of the Salisbury Poppy Appeal in October, and we were on parade in the City for Remembrance Sunday in November with 80 Juniors, Sea Cadets, and Royal Marines Cadets taking part this year.

In December, we celebrated the combined achievements of the unit during our annual presentation evening. We were joined by Southern Area Officer Commander (SCC) Gary Bassett RNR and Wessex District Officer Lieutenant Commander (SCC) Lisa Grinter RNR, who presented qualifications, promotions, and awards in recognition of the hard work that the cadets and staff put in during the year.

As we begin the New Year, I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the members of TS Salisbury, cadets, staff, and the Unit Management Team for making 2024 such a memorable year. As well as the parents of our Juniors, Sea Cadets, and Royal Marines Cadets for their ongoing support of the unit.

Yours aye,

S/Lt (SCC) J Bond RNR

Celebrating Success

Celebrating Success

On Thursday evening we held our Annual Presentation Evening, celebrating all things from 2024, and with a couple of VIPs in attendance, Southern Area Officer Cdr (SCC) Gary Bassett RNR and Wessex District Officer Lt Cdr (SCC) Lisa Grinter RNR.

Cadets were awarded with new promotions and qualifications from all divisions of the Unit. Followed by a video of our year’s activities and competitions, and then the main Awards.

Congratulations to ALL our Cadets who make us such a great team and to those who came away with the top awards. 🏆

That is it for 2024. We now have a break for a few weeks – the only time we do not parade throughout the year. We are back to normal on Monday 6th January 2025. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

New Cadet Corporal for Salisbury Unit

We are glad to share the news that we have a new Corporal in the Unit. Congratulations to Corporal Oli, who has attended and passed his Royal Marine Cadet Corporal's Promotion Board this weekend.

We will remember them

We will remember them

Today we took the time to remember all those who have given service for their countries in conflicts as part of Remembrance Sunday 2024.

Well done to our Sea Cadets, Junior Sea Cadets, Royal Marine Cadets, and Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers who all turned out for the Remembrance Sunday Parade in Salisbury City Centre.

We were also fortunate enough to take this time of remembrance to take a photo of the ship's company, alongside two long term supporters of Salisbury Unit, Councillor Mr Sven Hocking, the Mayor of Salisbury, and Dame Sarah Troughton, the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire.
