Scarborough Sea Cadets will once again be spending the 'Summer at the Lakes'. As always, we need to ensure that people communicate with each other to share lifts and to help those without transport to get there. We have very sucessful rowing teams and this is all due to the effort put in during the Summer. Help everyone to be part of 'Team Scarborough' by making sure that all of your colleagues get to the lakes. Parents are more than welcome to stay (rather than driving back and forth) have a chat and a cuppa and see what the Cadets get up to on the water. There will be Rowing, Sailing, Wind Surfing, Power Boating and lots of other activities to be a part of. Wykeham Lakes is very pretty in the summer. During poor weather (or the British Summer) check facebook for updates to check it is still going ahead. We rarely cancel as we are hardy souls. Don't forget to watch your speed limit when dropping off and leaving. There are birds, wild animals and padestrians using the roads, so take care and avoid creating giant dust storms. The owners get upset and rightly so. Hope to see you all there. Remember the biscuits :)
Scarborough Sea Cadets had a very succesful 'Community Fair' on Saturday 15th August. The town centre was awash with tables and stalls from lots of Scarborough Charities and we held a Raffle, a Tombola, a Guess the Bear lotto as well as a Chocolate Sale. It was a very good event and we managed to raise £245 for the Sea Cadets. Very big 'Thank You' to all who helped on the day and those who contributed time and prizes for the table.
This is a very popular event and a great chance for Sea Cadets to raise much needed funds. We will be running a 'Tombola' stall on the West Pier. Come along and support the Cadets and lend a hand if you can :)
This Saturday 27th June, is Armed Forces Day in Scarborough. The fun & excitement begins at 10am. This year, The Sea Cadets stall will be opposite the Newcastle Packet Pub. We will be promoting the Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets as well as Selling Union Jack Flags and lots of other Sea Cadets items.
There is a fly-by from a Vulcan Bomber aircraft, a Spitfire 'Battle of Britain' celebration and even some wing walking on old bi-planes.
Scarborough Sea Cadets will be performing a Field Gun run display at around 2pm, followed by the Scarborough Sea Cadets Band at around 2:30pm. The Parade will begin at 4pm.
There will be a chance to win a Bottle of wine for guessing the length of a piece of rope (How easy is that?) and a Star Prize of a VIP day at Wykeham Lakes with the Cadets. You will get to see the Cadets Sailing, Rowing and Wind-Surfing, be shown all about the types of boats we have and how to fit the sails etc, as well as spending some time on the water on the Safety Boat (Life Jacket supplied). Come along and support the Sea Cadets and you will be impressed.
Today at Wykeham Lakes, T.S. Scarborough hosted the North East Yorkshire District Rowing Regatta.
The results have been confirmed and it has been a very good day for the Unit. There was a 'Clean Sweep' for T.S. Scarborough, in all categories. Very well done to Team 'Boro.
Lots of training and hard work certainly paid off.
A very good effort from all of the Cadets & Staff who took part from District. Thanks for an excellent day. Roll on Area.
