It is with great pleasure to announce that our UMC Chairperson, Mr Simon Marland has been recognised and has been awarded a Solihull Mayor's Civic Honour for 2014 for his tireless devotion to Shirley Sea Cadets for the 'Making a Difference for Young People' award.
Please join me in congratulating Simon on his well deserved award.
Today's Remembrance Parade in Shirley, Solihull was well attended with 42 cadets and 10 adults parading from Shirley Sea Cadets.
I'm extremely proud of our efforts today and thank you all for putting on an excellent show within our community.

On Saturday 1st November Cadets and Staff took part in a service of Rededication of the War Memorial at the Shirley Royal British Legion Club.
The memorial was re-sited due to the completion of the new Parkgate centre and the incorporation of the Legion buildings within the complex.
Our Cadets along with those from Units within Warwickshire District took part in the annual Trafalgar Parade, hosted this year by Evesham Sea Cadets.
The Captain Sea Cadets was in attendance as our VIP.
Another eventful weekend for Shirley and District Sea Cadets.
Two of our Able Cadets attended the Warwickshire District Advancement Board; one scoring 133.5 of 150 and gaining a credit pass, the other gaining a partial pass overall with some great results in the individual sections.
