Duke of Edinburgh's Award

27th - 29th August 2016

South Downs National Park

Six cadets from Southampton and one cadet from Portsmouth set out on foot from a location on the edge of the South Downs National Park. They were carrying everything they needed to survive for the next 72 hours with them in a rucksack on their back.

Yes the Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award Land based Expedition had begun. Over the following 72 hours the cadets spend two nights under canvas and cooked for themselves, they walked over 48 kilometers, scaling hills and folloing paths through some beautiful English countryside.

Well done to all those who completed this feat, even if the weather was varied from sunshine to rain and back again.

Tesco Support

Sunday 10th July

A massive well done to the Cadets that went Bag Packing at Tesco in Bursledon. The aim of this event was for the cadets who are on the Unit Offshore week later this year, to raise some money themselves to help pay for their course.
A grand total of £402.25 was raised towards your trip.

Thank you to Tesco for their support, sterling effort cadets.

Cruise Ship Britannia

Our cadets were very fortunate on Saturday 9th July to get an in site to life on board one of the UK's biggest cruise ships the P & O Britannia. They enjoyed a full tour of all the public Areas and the Bridge, met with the Deputy Captain and some of the Bridge Officers, where they asked questions on life in the Merchant Fleet.
The visit finished with lunch in one of the main restaurants.

Many thanks to Sea Cadet Headquarters and Carnival UK for organising this visit for us.
