Unit Offshore Week

22nd - 28th October 2016

A first for the Unit, two staff members and 11 cadets spent a week at sea onboard the Sea Cadet Corps Offshore Power Vessel T.S.Jack Petchey.

The Unit had the whole ship exclusively to themselves and spent their time learning skills such as Navigation, Seamanship and Ship Husbandry. Having to run the ship as a team under the watchful guidance of the Captain and his permanant crew, the cadets ensured that everything ran like clockwork and that they cleaned up behind themselves.

After leaving the home port of Gosport on Sunday the ship travelled to Poole, Weymouth, Yarmouth and Cowes before returning to Gosport. There were also drills in the ships sea boat and exercises in anchoring in such lovely spots as Lulworth Cove and the Solent Western Approaches.

A great week had by all.
