The unit carried out a number of Days of Afloat training during the May Half term Holiday, during this time a number of qualifications were earend as well as a number of boating skills mastered by the Cadets.
The unit attended the Stubbington st Georges day Parade which saw our cadets march through the villiage. The Hornpipe Team did a couple of Displays and the Parents and Friends opened a stall selling various items and also raising awareness of our unit a big Thank you to Mr Leach Chair and the other members of the P&SA for their efforts today.
After the unit received its Champ back in May it has been put to good use, in training the crew for this years Power boat competition.
The Wessex district competition took place at Poole unit on Sunday 6th of June, it was the first boating competition of the year and the first time the unit has entered the competition.
After a uniform inspection it was on the boat handling which was held in Poole harbour, it was a nail biting 30 minutes in which the Crew took the champ through its paces and carried out a number of manoeuvres.
After the other crews hand completed their own assessments it was back to Poole unit and time for the results.
The units crew came forth out of nine with only a matter of a few points separating 4th, 3rd & 2nd. Which for a first time event was a fantastic result.
A big Bravo Zulu to the crew for competing & to the staff who trained the Crew roll on next year.
On Saturday the 19th June the unit entered its first ever sailing regatta held at district level, it was a very windy day. The Cadets had 2 races in the morning and a further 2 races after the lunch break.
The 2 cadets competed in the Bosun Dinghy Class against 5 other units that entered from the district and were placed 3rd overall which is a fantastic result.
