Calling all Juniors .....

Calling all Juniors .....

Juniors only:  Mrs Boobyer handed out letters of invitation to the District Junior Camp a couple of weeks ago but has had only one reply to date. If you wish to take part, please bring your reply and money in tonight (Friday 29th June).  Parents: if you are dropping off, please speak to one of the members of staff about this camp as sometimes the children get so excited they forget!

Friday 29th June at Sutton Bingham

Friday 29th June at Sutton Bingham

All cadets should go to Sutton Bingham tonight, arriving between 1830 and 1845. The evening will finish at 2045.

Juniors - this Friday is your boating session, so make sure you bring boating kit, soft bot shoes and spare clothes and towel in case you get wet!

There is no transport available tonight.

Air Day Arrangements - 23rd June

Air Day Arrangements - 23rd June

Arrangements for the day are as follows:

Friday 22nd: All those planning to attend Air Day are to come to cadets in No4s/95s, carrying No1s/blues and half lovats. These will then be left at the unit overnight.

Saturday 23rd:

Transport:

  • Transport will leave Yeovil (bus stop on Ilchester Road as usual) at 0700.
  • Transport will pick up at West Gate at 0715.
  • If you miss the bus, then get to West Gate and ring the unit on 01935 455711.
  • The transport timings on Air Day can sometimes go a little awry, so it's worth getting to the bus stop early.
  • Transport at the end of the day will leave at around 1800, but again this is subject to change and very much depends on traffic conditions on the day.
  • No cadet is to leave Yeovilton without notifying both the staff on the display and the admin officer. That means not just notifying them, but also getting agreement from them to leave!

Food:

  • On arrival, all cadets will be taken to the Galley for a cooked breakfast.
  • At lunchtime, cadets will be provided with a packed lunch.
  • There will be squash and a muffin mid-afternoon.
  • Please bring in £5 to cover the cost of the refreshments.
  • There is food available to purchase at various stands throughout the day.

Other information:

  • Bring your windy on the day.
  • The unit will be open and staffed all day which means personal property can be left there.
  • Parents, family and friends are welcome to visit the unit.
  • On arrival, each cadet will be allocated a watch they will be in for the day, along with a supervisor.
  • The unit's stand is in the centre of the service display hanger, with each watch keeping a 30 minute duty from 0900.

Any finally:

  • DON'T FORGET YOUR MUG FOR THE TOMBOLA! Please bring this in on Friday if possible, though Saturday is not too late.

Friday 15th June - change of venue

Friday 15th June - change of venue

Due to the poor weather predicted for Friday evening, cadets will be held at the unit and not at Sutton Bingham. Transport will be as normal for parade nights.

A decision on whether or not to go sailing on Saturday will be made on Friday evening.

Fill a Mug for Air Day Tombola

Fill a Mug for Air Day Tombola

We are once again lucky enough to have the opportunity for some fundraising at Air Day (Saturday June 23rd) and have decided to run a tombola of filled mugs, as last year. Unlike last year, however, we do not have a supply of donated mugs and so would ask that each cadet provides their own (new, not chipped or stained though please) and fill it.  It is entirely up to the individual what to use to fill the mug, and the photo is just an example.

Please bring them in to the unit any parade night beforehand (as soon as you like).

This is an important fundraising event for us, particularly in the light of the unforeseen cancellation of Kingsbury May Fair this year.

Any questions, contact Teresa (01458 270810 or teresaoulds@hotmail.com).

Many thanks for your help.
