Warm Welcome from HMS Pembroke - 28/5/2017

A chance opportunity afforded itself on the units arrival at Milford Haven this week.  Our Padre made a few swift phone calls and we all ended up on a ships tour of HMS Pembroke.  Cadets had the opportunity to try out a selection of activities on board and to appreciate the size and work involved in operating a Royal Naval Ship.

Thank you to the Captain and ships crew for your warm welcome, it was a true honour.

Duke of Westminster Award - Selection Event...

AC Hannah (far left) was one of 30 cadets from all Cadet Forces to be chosen to attend the selection event in Somerset 10th to 13th April.  AC Hannah, pictured with Daniel Chan, HQSO Sea Cadets BTEC and 5 of her fellow Sea Cadets from around the country took part in a gruelling 3 days of both physical and mental activities to test their leadership and teamwork skills, fortunately the weather was kind and kept dry for them.  The 30 will now be cut down to a lucky 10 who will be given the opportunity to take part in a voluntary community project in South Africa for 2 weeks in July. All that's left to do now is wait for the decision notice on 1st May, Good Luck AC Hannah, we are all keeping our fingers crossed for you. You can check out the activities of the week on the link below.

National 5 A Side Football, Junior Boys 26/2/2017

5 of our youngest Cadets took part in the National 5 A Side Football competition this weekend representing the South West Area.  Getting this far is no mean feat and a learning experience for them all to build on next year.  A very proud OIC accompanied them and cheered them on to their 5th place overall.

Pictured here enjoying a well earned treat from the OIC.

Fantastic job boys, you did us proud.

Sherbourne Cadet shortlisted for the Duke of...

We are proud to announce that AC Hannah (right) is one of six Sea Cadets that has made the 30-person shortlist for the Duke of Westminster Award, a scheme which gives CVQO learners the opportunity to win a trip to South Africa. The CVQO Duke of Westminster Award is designed to find the best of the CVQO cadets across the UK. When looking through applications the Duke of Westminster Award panel look for 'selfless, determined individuals who always keep their heads up and remain positive through adversity; those who have overcome a personal challenge or gone the distance to help someone.' It's an outstanding achievement to make the shortlist, AC Hannah with her 5 peers will go through to a selection event in Somerset, to determine which cadets will win the trip to South Africa.

Best of luck!
