Yesterday, we went to the Southampton Boat Show.
It was an early start for everyone, leaving the unit at 07:00. The weather forecast was good for the entire day and it held true.
On arrival in Southampton, the location we had planned to park at was not available, but an even better option was soon found. A 5 minute walk and we joined the long, but quick moving queue for entry, and then the day was underway.
The cadets started with SUP and Kayak at the Watersports Lake, before moving on to the rest of the show.
As we went around the show, when the various people we talked to identified us as Sea Cadets from Dunstable, it was so nice to hear, many times, comments along the lines of "oh, we saw your cadets a little earlier, they were well behaved and credit to the unit". It sounds like time was also spend learning as they went around, while having fun.
By the time we all met up for lunch, the cadets had accumulated a good haul of freebies in the morning, and took great pleasure showing us their goodies.
The cadets were in full voice on the minbus back, with us eventually arriving back at the unit at 20:45.
In summary:
- So happy that everyone had a great day.
- Good haul of freebies.
- Very proud of the cadets and the impression they made on the public.
- Chief didn't buy any rope.
