South District Trafalgar Day Parade

South District Trafalgar Day Parade

Well done to everyone from Dunstable Sea Cadets who took part in today's South District Sea Cadets Trafalgar Day parade In St Albans.
Cadets took part in the guard or in divisions with the rest of the district, and were all very smart.
The guard were inspected by the our VIP, His Royal Highness, Prince Michael of Kent, who later took the salute and addressed the congregation as part of the service in the cathedral.

Southampton Boat Show

Southampton Boat Show

Yesterday, we went to the Southampton Boat Show.
It was an early start for everyone, leaving the unit at 07:00. The weather forecast was good for the entire day and it held true.
On arrival in Southampton, the location we had planned to park at was not available, but an even better option was soon found. A 5 minute walk and we joined the long, but quick moving queue for entry, and then the day was underway.
The cadets started with SUP and Kayak at the Watersports Lake, before moving on to the rest of the show.
As we went around the show, when the various people we talked to identified us as Sea Cadets from Dunstable, it was so nice to hear, many times, comments along the lines of "oh, we saw your cadets a little earlier, they were well behaved and credit to the unit". It sounds like time was also spend learning as they went around, while having fun.
By the time we all met up for lunch, the cadets had accumulated a good haul of freebies in the morning, and took great pleasure showing us their goodies.
The cadets were in full voice on the minbus back, with us eventually arriving back at the unit at 20:45.
In summary:

  • So happy that everyone had a great day.
  • Good haul of freebies.
  • Very proud of the cadets and the impression they made on the public.
  • Chief didn't buy any rope.

Unit Review

14 September 2024

Last night was our Unit Review (URV), our annual inspection.

Cadets were very smart when they were inspected by Lt (SCC) J Robinson RNR, the ADO.

Their work on uniform over the past months has been worth it.

From Ma'am:

I just wanted to say the cadets have made us all really proud! They have done a fantastic job tonight! Please pass on how proud we all are of them!

Priory Pictures

Priory Pictures

Thanks to cadets and staff who supported Dunstable Town Council's Priory Pictures this afternoon. They assisted with litter picking and empting the bins, as well as eating chocolate donuts and watching Kung Fu Panda 4.
