On Wednesday 28th August 2013, Capt (SCC) S. Smith RMR, 5 Troop Commander (Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire), visited Dunstable unit. The captain has authorised Dunstable to open a Royal Marine Cadet detachment, effective as of 1st September 2013.
Please provide your support to PCI T. Harmer to make this detachment a success.
On Saturday 24th August a team of cadets from Dunstable unit took part in the District AT competition at Luton unit. Despite the weather, the team were sucessful winning the junior competition. They will now be competing in the Area competition during September.
Last week, 15 cadets from Dunstable unit went on Summer Camp to HMS Caledonia. During the course of the week, the cadets took part in waterborne activities and all came away with qualifications including Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 2 & 3 and Powerboating Level 2.
Wednesday was a fun day out at the Scout National Activity Centre in Fordell Firs. Some of the activities enjoyed by the cadets included wall climbing, caving, 3G swing, Jacob's Ladder and archery.

On Sunday, cadets and instructors from Dunstable unit will be travelling to HMS Caledonia for their summer camp. As a result of this the unit will be closed on Wednesday 7th and Friday 9th August.
