For the last three weekends, Dunstable Sea Cadets have attended community events in the local area. On 6th July, the juniors put on a display of the hornpipe and the seniors a tug of war at Weatherfield Academy Summer Fayre. On the 13th July, there was a stall with raffle at Houghton Regis Carnival and on 20th July cadets attended Party in the Park recruiting for juniors and Sea Cadets as well as the new Royal Marine Cadet detachment.

2013 burgee for TS Lionel Preston
Dunstable Sea Cadets have been awarded a burgee for the third consecutive year. The burgee is the highest award that can be awarded to a Sea Cadet Corps Unit in recognition of the hard work of the volunteers, cadets and UMC.
Royal Naval Parade
The unit had its bi-annual Royal Naval Parade on Wednesday 12th June 2013. The unit was inspected by Cdr C. Bagot-Jewitt RN, Eastern Area Officer. The evening began with colours and then the commander and the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, inspected and talked with all cadets and staff.
After a break for refreshments, the juniors put on a display of the hornpipe. This was followed by a demonstration by the cadets involving aspects of Adventure Training, Sailing, Communications and First Aid; these are skills that the cadets have learnt over the past year. The commander kindly accepted to be a volunteer to assist with the display and crossed a river and had his hand bandaged.
The commander had enjoyed the juniors’ hornpipe so much that an encore was requested before evening colours.
