On Saturday 24th April, 12 cadets from our Unit were invited onboard HMS Cornwall to join cadets from other units and dignitaries. As the ship was anchored out in Falmouth Bay, the cadets had were taken from Falmouth Docks on the "Enterprise II" to dock with HMS Cornwall. Once onboard, the cadets were treated to a display by the Search and Rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose, followed by a display where they could see and handle the weapons used by the crew (unloaded, of course!). They then saw a "first aid" demonstration of handling a casualty onboard ship followed by a visit to the Operations Room where a simulated attack on the ship took place. They were than given a meal in the Junior Rates Dining Hall before going up onto the deck to watch as the ship entered Falmouth Docks and came alongside.
On Sunday morning, more cadets from our Unit were able to take a look around HMS Cornwall in Falmouth Docks, before the ship opened to the public. We thank our hosts on HMS Cornwall for the experience.
