Cornwall District Junior Weekend - 23rd to 25th...

Over the weekend of 23rd to 25th October 2009, seven of our Junior Cadets, accompanied by four senior cadets and five members of our staff, attended a Junior Cadet activity weekend at HMS Raleigh. They practised their drill in one of the Drill Sheds, did a short First Aid Course to obtain their Heart Start qualification, produced a Knot Board as part of Seamanship, and spent a morning on the water doing canoeing and powerboating. A very enjoyable (and tiring) weekend was had by all!

On 3rd October, thirteen cadets and three members of staff from our Unit took part in the St Nazaire Parade, along with veterans and members of the Royal Navy. Starting on Falmouth Moor, they marched to the Prince of Wales Pier where a small service took place, and finished with a march through Falmouth town to the Royal British Legion. Thanks to the cadets who volunteered to attend - our participation was very much appreciated by the organisers.

A Cornwall District Canoeing Weekend was held at our Unit over the weekend 25th to 27th September 2009 where several cadets from our unit and cadets from other units in Cornwall trained for and qualified with their BCU 1* award. It was a demanding weekend for the cadets as one of the tasks they had to complete was to paddle from our Unit all the way to Falmouth harbour and back!
