Lewis Pugh Talk

Lewis Pugh Talk

Southwark Sea Cadet Unit were invited by City of London Unit to attend a talk they were hosting by Lewis Pugh onboard HMS Belfast.

Lewis Pugh was the first person to complete a long-distance swim in every ocean of the world, and he frequently swims in vulnerable ecosystems to draw attention to their plight. In his talk, Lewis Pugh spoke about the undertaking for which he is best known: the first swim across the North Pole in 2007 to highlight the melting of the Arctic sea ice.

His two concluding messages for our young people were:

1. Follow your dream, otherwise you will be following someone else's

2. Believe that nothing is impossible - strive to achieve what others think is impossible
