ROWING OR CANOEING

Petty Officer Cadet Callum Malone spent the weekend at RVDBS developing his rowing skills, assisting with the training of other cadets and gaining British Rowing qualifications. At the same time Alexander Smith and Romanii Smart were at Kingston sea Cadet Unit involved in a kyaking course. Both have just recently started the British Canoe Union Paddlesport Passport qualification ladder and spent two days training on the River Thames alongside the TS Steadfast SCC Unit HQ.

Armed Forces Community Covenant

Petty Officer George Whitfield and Able Cadet Joshua McBride represented the Sea Cadets and Royal Navy at Westminster City Hall for the signing of the Armed Forces Community Covenant.

The Armed Forces Community Covenants aim to increase awareness of the issues facing members of the Armed Forces and to recognise the sacrifices they have made, both past and present. They will mean better support for members of the Forces, their families and veterans.

TS Cossack SCC is proud to be involved.

OFFSHORE SAIL TRAINING

Alexander Smith has just completed a week offshore sailing aboard the Sea Cadet square rigged brig TS Royalist. Having joined the ship at Gosport he disembarked a week later at Weymouth after an exciting action packed week with a crew of 24 cadets from all over the UK.

LONDON AREA REGATTA

LONDON AREA REGATTA

The London Area Regatta was held earlier than usual this year to cater for the Olympics. Irrespective of this it was a good performance from Southwark.

Ben Wood finished first in the Senior Boys Marathon canoeing while the Power Boat Handling Crew also achieved first place. Callum Malone as coxswain together with Alfie Button and Sian Cummins out performed old rivals Edmonton and also Rickmansworth to gain the trophy.

Now it’s going to be hard work preparing for the National Combined Regatta to be held at the end of September.

 

London to Brighton Bike Rides

London to Brighton Bike Rides

Southwark Unit were out in force on Sunday 16 June 2012 providing Marshalls for points 1 to 6 at the start of the London to Brighton Bike Ride organised by the British Heart Foundation. No easy task with having to be on station by 05:00 but TS Cossack Cadets and Staff are accustomed to hard work and enjoy the challenge and sense of achievement when helping others. Acting as guides, providing assistance to riders liaising with the Police and Community wardens … all in a typical days work.
