Armed Forces Day

Cadets from the unit took part in a joint district parade to mark Armed Forces Day in Alnwick. Sea Cadets, Juniors and Royal Marine Cadets marched through the town and into the castle along with other cadet forces and the RAF Regiment based at RAF Boulmer. The cadets did a great job in scorching temperatures and all of the comments about them were positive. BZ to all those who attended.

The unit will be featured in a radio broadcast as part of the Reserve Forces and Cadet Associations drive to improve PR. Liz Green from RFCA joined us at the boat station for the evening to listen in on the activities that the cadets get up to. News of the broadcast date to follow. National Rowing Finals reached for the third...

National Rowing Finals reached for the third...

TS Dauntless will again have a team in the National Rowing Finals thanks to the efforts of cadets Rutherford and Campbell in the Junior Mixed Double Yole. The unit were unlucky not to have three teams following re runs in the Open Boys and Junior Girls T500s, with the unit winning the first races, only to have them re run for various reasons, and loosing out in the second races.

Gosforth becomes the ONLY Royal Marines Cadets detachment in Newcastle after being given permission to begin as the 125th RMCD in the country.

Sgt Cummings will take on the mantle of Detachment Commander and we hope to make a great success of our latest venture

NE Childrens Cancer Run 2013

Cadets and staff from the unit supported the Sea Cadets efforts at the 2013 Cancer Run held at Gosforth PArk. The unit supplied four of teh twelve runners to the Sea Cadet team who battled hard against the Army and Air Cadets. The Sea Cadets finished third overall but all of the cadets had a great day out in support of a worthy cause.
