Northumberland District Rowing Regatta

The teams of the Mighty G entered seven of teh eight events at the Northumberland District regatta.....and WON ALL SEVEN. The teams of Trinity 500 Open Boys, Open Girls, Junior Girls and Yole Open Mixed, Junior Mixed, Open Single Male and Open Single Female won every race in which they competed and will represent the district at the Area Rowing Regatta in Greenock in June- BZ!!

Cadets from the unit took part in the LARGEST sponsored row in the corps as we aim to raise £5000 to help with funding a replacement for the Sea Cadet flagship- TS Royalist. Over 100 Sea Cadets took to the water on April 21st as part of a country wide initiative to row around the world in 80 hours

Boatwork Courses

Boatwork Courses

5 cadets from the unit took part in RYA Power and Windsurfing courses held in Scotland in April. All 5 cadets gained a qualification and had a great weekend- well done Bell, Coates, Gascoigne, Rutherford and McGrath :)

Try Dive

Try Dive

Three cadets are booked on Ocean Diver courses at HMS Raleigh later in the year. In order to do this they must first take part in a BSAC Try Dive course. The cadets attended Benfield Pool on Tuesday nights getting to grips with the tanks and fins that they will use to hopefully become the units first qualified Divers!

As the summer approaches, its once again time to hit the water. Before the cadets get to grips with the boats, they must first take a swimming test in the rather cold water of the river Tyne- all the cadets came through the test so we are clear to start rowing, sailing and powerboating from TS Northumbria boat station!
