MULTI ACTIVITY CADET TRAINING

It was an enjoyable weekend at Crowborough for S Cummins and A Button attending the latest London area Multi Activity Cadet Training. First Aid this time but with many activities to chose from including band, camping, piping, seamanship, and much more, there is plenty of variety for future events. Crowborough is a military camp on the edge of Ashdown Forest. Ashdown Forest is famous as the setting for the Winnie-the-Pooh stories written by A A Milne, who lived on the northern edge of the forest and took his son, Christopher Robin, walking there.

INDOOR ROWING CHAMPIONSHIP TRIALS

The London Regatta Centre was venue for speed trials for the National Youth Indoor Rowing Championships. Harry Tutt qualified for the London Area team to take part in the finals (two years running) at the Lea Valley Athletics Centre in North London on MARCH 20 2015, and we have been informed that it’s going to be bigger than ever. Our 2015 event is set to be bigger, faster, brighter and louder than ever before! Records will be set and smashed in an action packed day.

It was a pleasure to welcome onboard visitors from the Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers in recognition of their continued support to TS Cossack. The Master, Professor Tony Wilson, was accompanied by Captain Guy Brocklebank and Mr Neville Watson.

 The WCSIM promote the craft of scientific instrument making and the exchange of ideas and information by members and guests through meetings, visits, lectures and social events. The members are all linked with the manufacture or use of scientific instruments.

Next it was a short trip to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for a session in the London Aquatics Centre, hopefully a regular feature in the future in preparation for London Southern District swimming gala.

Alfie Button and Andrew East were among the gusts at the WCSIM Education Trust Supper. Those attending included Scientific Instrument Makers Apprentices and Scholars as well as Liverymen and Freemen and our guests from science and engineering education.
